In a significant step towards bolstering investment protection, Col. Edith Nakalema, the head Of State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU) hosted a high-level delegation from the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Uganda on 6th June, 2024 at her offices along Lumumba Avenue, Nakasero-Kampala.
The delegation was led by H.E. Mr. Majid Saffar, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Uganda.
He was in company of Mr. Mohsen Aghaloo, First Secretary, and Mr. Ali Karimi, Deputy CEO of Iran Uganda Hospital.
The head of State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU), Col Edith Nakalema has had a fruitful meeting with Indian investors Mr. Mihir Patel, Chair of The India Overseas Trust & British Ugandan Asians@50 and Mr. Mrunal Gandhi, Principal at India gas giants Siddha Gas Technik Pvt Ltd.
The meeting, held on 5th March, 2024 at SHIPU offices along Lumumba Avenue, Plot 51B, Nakasero-Kampala, aimed to explore avenues for investment and assure the investors of protection of their investments once established.
Citing success stories of England, Japan, India, Brazil, China and Vietnam whose economic growth can be traced to Agriculture through the centuries, Col. Edith Nakalema, the Head State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU) is optimistic that the youth in Uganda can also do the same to spur the country’s economic growth by transitioning from Agriculture to Agri-Business.
“In sub-Saharan Africa, agriculture – crop production, fishing, livestock, forestry, pasture employs 70% of the population where smallholder activity is predominant.
In a significant effort to bolster investor confidence and safeguard investments in Uganda, Willy Mutenza, Chairman of the UK-Uganda Business Summit, recently met with Col. Edith Nakalema, the head of the State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU).
Their discussion which took place at SHIPU offices located on Plot 51B along Lumumba Avenue, Nakasero-Kampala focused on how SHIPU can extend its support to investors and Ugandans in the diaspora who have been victims of fraud while attempting to invest in Uganda.

The portal, an initiative under the State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU) led by Col. Edith Nakalema, aims to streamline and safeguard the investment process in Uganda.
