The head of the State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU), Col. Edith Nakalema has warned government officials who have made it a tendency to frustrate investors, that the unit will deal with them accordingly to ensure that such aptness is eliminated from the system.

“Honestly we will not allow government ministries, Departments and Agencies to frustrate investors,” she warned.

Col. Nakalema made the remarks on Friday 20th June, 2025 during the celebrations for the 30 years of improving livelihoods with high quality nutritious grain products for NUMA at Kabwohe, Bushenyi District.

NUMA is a small-Medium Size Ugandan grain company focused on producing high-quality, nutritious grain products that cater to the customers' preferences.

According to Col. Nakalema, SHIPU is committed to wipe out unscrupulous individuals from relevant government agencies and ministries who have continued to frustrate investors.

She said investors and other wealth creators have continued to complain about the unnecessary delays whenever they need support from some ministries and agencies.

“It is our work and we are going to ensure that you are not delayed unnecessarily. We are going to eliminate that,” she assured, before requesting the investors to make good use of the Uganda Electronic Investors Protection Portal (EIPP) for timely, authentic information and help regarding anything to do with investing in Uganda.

Col. Nakalema further disclosed to the investors that with the support of the President, she's highly committed to fight corruption in all government ministries and agencies, thus advising them to report to her office in case government officials ask them for bribes.

On his part, Mr. Robert Matsiko, the Executive Director of NUMA requested the government to formulate a policy to curb adulteration, with an aim of improving the quality of grain products.

“We ask the government to really intervene and probably enforce the grain policy to deal with the challenges affecting the grain,” he said.

Dr. Ezra Muhumuza, the Executive Director of Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) hailed NUMA for its resilience, asking financial institutions to start designing loan products that are tailored to support such developmental investors.
