SHIPU will enable Uganda to attract more investors, says Prof. Nuwagaba

Professor Augustus Nuwagaba has lauded the Head of State His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for creating the State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU), stating that its work will be pivotal in attracting more investors to the country.

In his address made shortly during his courtesy visit to the Head of Unit, Col. Edith Nakalema, Prof. Nuwagaba stated that the Electronic Investors Protection Portal (EIPP) is a key platform for investors.

“The [EIPP] portal is extremely useful, particularly for informing prospective investors. The reason we are not having as many investments as we would have required is because there is a lack of information and many investors are misguided,” Prof. Nuwagaba said.

He added, "They are getting misinformed; they are losing money because they go to the wrong hands. So it [the portal] is extremely impressive.”

He therefore thanked the Head of State, His Excellency President Museveni, for creating a platform that collects information from concerned Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) and provides investors with authentic information under a centralized system.
“I want to commend the protection unit and also to commend the State House for having found a reason for establishing the State House Investors Protection Unit because our investors have suffered a great deal. It is not possible that investors should continue suffering,” Prof. Nuwagaba said.
