SHIPU head, Indian Investors Discuss Investment Opportunities in Uganda
The head of State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU), Col Edith Nakalema has had a fruitful meeting with Indian investors Mr. Mihir Patel, Chair of The India Overseas Trust & British Ugandan Asians@50 and Mr. Mrunal Gandhi, Principal at India gas giants Siddha Gas Technik Pvt Ltd.
The meeting, held on 5th March, 2024 at SHIPU offices along Lumumba Avenue, Plot 51B, Nakasero-Kampala, aimed to explore avenues for investment and assure the investors of protection of their investments once established.
Mr. Mihir and Mr. Mrunal, who were in company of Mr. Willy Mutenza, the Coordinator of the Uganda - UK Investment Forum, expressed keen interest in Uganda's investment landscape. With Mr. Gandhi boasting three decades of experience in the oil and gas industry and seats on various company boards, the duo brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table.
One of their innovative proposals involves the production of fructose using alternative sources such as cassava, a crop abundant in Uganda.
This forward-thinking approach not only aligns with Uganda's agricultural strengths but also opens doors to sustainable economic growth and employment opportunities.
Col. Nakalema commended the investors for their commitment to exploring new avenues of collaboration and welcomed their interest in Uganda's growing economy.
She assured them of the government's unwavering support and emphasized the importance of creating a conducive environment for investment.
