SHIPU Head Illuminates Uganda’s Investors’ Protection Strategy to Iranian Ambassador
In a significant step towards bolstering investment protection, Col. Edith Nakalema, the head Of State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU) hosted a high-level delegation from the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Uganda on 6th June, 2024 at her offices along Lumumba Avenue, Nakasero-Kampala.
The delegation was led by H.E. Mr. Majid Saffar, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Uganda.
He was in company of Mr. Mohsen Aghaloo, First Secretary, and Mr. Ali Karimi, Deputy CEO of Iran Uganda Hospital.
The meeting underscored Uganda's commitment to protecting and nurturing foreign investments, particularly from Iranian nationals.
During the discussions, Col. Nakalema emphasized the critical role of investment protection in fostering a thriving economic partnership.
She showcased the Uganda Electronic Investors Protection Portal (EIPP) which is a dedicated initiative designed to safeguard the interests of investors in Uganda.
Col. Nakalema assured the Iranian delegation of SHIPU’s robust support to Iranian nationals, ensuring their investments are secure and their business ventures can flourish without undue risk.
SCP Chelimo Beata, Deputy Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and Ms. Juliet Kinuka Mwesiga, an official at the Ministry of Internal Affairs (Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control) were also present, highlighting the collaborative efforts across various governmental departments to support and protect foreign investments.
The meeting is pivotal in Uganda-Iran investment relations, showcasing Uganda's dedication to fostering a welcoming and secure investment climate.
SHIPU continues to commit to protection of investments to ensure that investments are not only welcomed but also rigorously protected.
