ICPAU joins SHIPU in the push to polish Uganda’s Investment Climate

The Head of the State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU), Col. Edith Nakalema, had a meeting with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) Mr Derick Nkajja. 

While recognizing the pivotal role of accounting and financial expertise in investment endeavors. Acknowledging the significance of ICPAU in enhancing the financial landscape for investors, the meeting reaffirmed the need to combat fraudulent activities to foster a conducive investment climate in Uganda.


During the meeting held on December 19, 2023, Mr. Derrick Nkajja, the CEO of ICPAU, pledged various initiatives, including hosting the Electronic Investors Protection Portal (EIPP) on the ICPAU website. This portal aims to provide authenticated information relevant to investors, locally and globally, thereby supporting the efforts of the State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU) in sensitization and ensuring proper utilization of the platform.
 

Furthermore, the ICPAU management expressed their readiness to collaborate with SHIPU officials in reviewing the progress of these initiatives, scheduled for March this year. Such periodic evaluations will facilitate the effective delivery of SHIPU's mandate to address investors' needs promptly and comprehensively.
