HON. NORBERT MAO VISITS SHIPU TO DISCUSS ACCESS TO JUSTICE AND INVESTOR PROTECTION
It was an insightful evening at the State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU) as we hosted the Hon. Norbert Mao, Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs. His visit provided a valuable platform for strategic dialogue on strengthening Uganda’s legal framework to foster a more secure and attractive environment for investors.
Hon. Mao held discussions with Col. Edith Nakalema, Head of SHIPU, and senior members of the Unit, focusing on the role of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms in resolving investment-related disputes efficiently and amicably. The conversation also touched on broader national priorities and the importance of legal clarity in boosting investor confidence.
In her remarks, Col. Nakalema emphasized that a strong and responsive justice system is a key pillar of investor protection. "Access to justice is not just a right—it is a strategic necessity for national development and economic stability," she noted.
The Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to improving access to justice and reinforcing Uganda’s legal institutions to ensure that investors, both local and foreign, operate in a predictable and fair legal environment.
As SHIPU continues to champion investor interests, engagements like these are essential in building collaborative frameworks that support sustainable investment and economic transformation.
We extend our sincere appreciation to Hon. Mao for his time, insights, and unwavering dedication to justice and development in Uganda.
