The Head of the State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU), Col. Edith Nakalema, has rallied domestic investors under the umbrella body, the Mbarara City Traders Association (MBACITA), to multiply their efforts in investment and also support their counterparts to promote investment in the country.

In a meeting held on February 8th 2024 at SHIPU offices at plot 51B along Lumumba Avenue, Nakasero in Kampala, Col. Nakalema encouraged domestic investors to constantly make great use of the Electronic Investors Protection Portal (EIPP).

The guidance about the investment processes came after the leadership of MBACITA requested Col. Nakalema for the requisite knowledge about investment in Uganda.

"We need to be sensitized more about available investment opportunities in Uganda and how to access them," Mr. Simon Seezi, the chairperson of MBACITA, said.

The portal contains a host of authentic information and clearly defines the process that local and foreign investors would have to undertake to invest in Uganda.

The portal also allows investors to report any complaints or concerns encountered in their course of trying to invest in Uganda.

Since its inception, SHIPU has received and handled over 186 cases, which SHIPU has in collaboration with concerned government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) ensured that they are expeditiously attended to in a very timely manner.
